The rain was a herd of elephants crashing down into the ever growing puddle. The thunder was a growling lion ready for a fight. The lightning was a car smacking into a concrete wall. The clouds were thick grey, cotton candy lurking in the sky.

What an amazing weather metaphor, I can really hear the authors voice throughout the writing. You have been very creative with the metaphors you have used. I wonder what other things you could write metaphors for?
